Add Workstation Shortcut

Create a desktop shortcut to access ProPay from a workstation when ProPay runs on a server PC.

Before You Begin

You need:

  • Access to the server PC running ProPay
  • Permissions to map network drives on your workstation
  • ProPay installed on the server PC

Identify the Server Path

  1. On the server PC, run ProPay.
  2. Go to Utilities > Show PC Environment.
  3. Note the UNC Path (for example: `\\serverpc\payroll`).
  4. Note the mapped drive letter (for example: Z:).

In this example:

  • PC name: serverpc
  • Folder name: payroll
  • Mapped drive letter: Z

Map Network Drive

  1. On your workstation, open File Explorer.
  2. Right-click This PC.
  3. Select Map network drive.
  4. Choose a drive letter (preferably the same as on the server).
  5. Enter the UNC path from the server (for example: `\\serverpc\payroll`).
  6. Click Finish.

Create Desktop Shortcut

  1. Go to the newly mapped drive.
  2. Find the ProPay executable: `Paysoft\PROPAY26\PAY2026.EXE`
  3. Right-click PAY2026.EXE.
  4. Select Send to > Desktop (create shortcut).

Troubleshooting

Cannot map network drive

If you can't map the network drive:

  1. Confirm you have permissions to access the shared folder.
  2. Verify the server PC is online and accessible on the network.
  3. Check the UNC path for typos.
  4. Contact your network administrator.

Shortcut doesn't work

If the shortcut doesn't launch ProPay:

  1. Verify the mapped drive is still connected.
  2. Confirm ProPay is running on the server PC.
  3. Check if antivirus software is blocking the connection.
  4. Recreate the shortcut.
