Installation Hangs Up

Problem

ProPay installation freezes at 50%, 70%, or another percentage. This may also occur when running ProPay after installation.

Cause

This issue may occur due to corrupted files or other system conflicts.

Solution

Note: These steps apply to legacy versions. For current Windows 10/11 installations, contact Paysoft technical support.

Step 1: Access the command prompt

  1. Click Start > Programs > MS-DOS Prompt
  2. This normally takes you to `C:\WINDOWS`
  3. If ProPay is installed on a different drive, switch to that drive:
    • Type the drive letter followed by a colon (e.g., `F:`)
    • Press Enter

Step 2: Back up client files

Create a backup of your client files before making any changes:

    1. Type `CD \` and press Enter
    2. Type `MD PAYBACK` and press Enter
    3. Type `CD \PAYBACK` and press Enter
    4. Type `COPY \PAYSOFT\PROPAY26\.` and press Enter
    5. Watch to ensure all client files are copied
    6. Verify the backup by typing `DIR ???_CO.DBF` and pressing Enter
    7. This should display all client file IDs

    Step 3: Delete system files

Remove system files that may be causing the problem:

    1. Type `CD \PAYSOFT\PROPAY26` and press Enter
    2. Type `UNSETNET` and press Enter
    3. Type `DEL PR*.DBF` and press Enter

Step 4: Reinstall ProPay and restore files

    1. Restart your computer
    2. Install the latest version of ProPay
    3. Return to the MS-DOS prompt (see Step 1)
    4. Type `CD \PAYSOFT\PROPAY26` and press Enter
    5. Type `COPY \PAYBACK\PR*.DBF` and press Enter
