Create a Windows Desktop Shortcut
Create a shortcut on your Windows desktop to launch ProPay with a single click.
Overview
Creating a desktop shortcut for ProPay is more convenient than navigating through the Start Programs menu. You can launch ProPay with a single click instead of clicking 3-4 times through menus.
Creating the Shortcut
Step 1: Open the shortcut wizard
- Position your mouse pointer anywhere on your Windows desktop.
- Right-click to open the context menu.
- Select New > Shortcut.
Step 2: Enter the program location
- In the Type the location of the item field, enter:
`C:\PAYSOFT\PROPAY26\PAY2026.EXE`
- If you installed ProPay on a different drive (for example, a network drive), replace `C:` with the correct drive letter.
- Click Next.
Step 3: Name the shortcut
- The wizard suggests PAY2026 as the default name.
- You can change this to something more descriptive like ProPay 2026 if you prefer.
- Click Finish.
Your ProPay shortcut now appears on your Windows desktop. Double-click it to launch ProPay.
Customizing the Shortcut Icon
To change the shortcut icon:
- Right-click the shortcut on your desktop.
- Select Properties.
- Click the Shortcut tab.
- Click Change Icon.
- Browse to `C:\PAYSOFT\PROPAY26\PAY2026.EXE` to use the ProPay icon.
- Click OK to save.
Creating a Shortcut for a Different Year
If you have multiple years of ProPay installed, create separate shortcuts for each:
| Year | Path |
|---|---|
| 2025 | `C:\PAYSOFT\PROPAY25\PAY2025.EXE` |
| 2026 | `C:\PAYSOFT\PROPAY26\PAY2026.EXE` |
Update the folder name and executable name to match the year.
Important Notes
- Substitute the drive letter (`C:`) with your actual installation drive if ProPay is installed on a network drive or different local drive.
- Update the year in the folder name and executable name to match your current ProPay version.
- When you upgrade to a new year, create a new shortcut for that year's version. The previous year's shortcut will still work for accessing prior-year data.
- If ProPay does not launch from the shortcut, verify the path is correct by browsing to the folder in File Explorer.
Alternative: Pin to Taskbar
On Windows 10 and 11, you can also pin ProPay to the taskbar:
- Navigate to `C:\PAYSOFT\PROPAY26\` in File Explorer.
- Right-click PAY2026.EXE.
- Select Pin to taskbar.
This adds a ProPay icon to your Windows taskbar for one-click access.
