Client-Specific Issues
Problem
Issues that occur with only one specific client, while all other clients work correctly:
- YTD reports or paystubs are incorrect
- Tax form total wages are incorrect
- Error "COMIX 1012 corruption detected: xxx_xxxxx.cdx"
Cause
When a problem affects only one client, it's usually caused by corrupted index files for that specific client.
Solution
Step 1: Rebuild index files
- Go to Client Functions > Miscellaneous > Rebuild Index Files on the ProPay Main Menu
- Select the affected client
- Allow ProPay to rebuild all index files for that client
Note: The client ID is represented by a three-character code (XXX_) in file names.
Step 2: If rebuilding doesn't solve the problem
Try these additional troubleshooting steps:
Check for file structure issues
If you receive errors like "VARIABLE DOES NOT EXIST" or "DATA WIDTH ERROR":
- Go to Client Functions > Miscellaneous > Convert File Structures on the ProPay Main Menu
- Select the affected client
- Allow ProPay to convert and update the file structures
Review YTD data
If YTD totals are still incorrect:
- See: Incorrect YTD
- See: Incorrect taxable wages
Edit database directly
If other methods don't resolve the issue:
- See: Edit database for advanced troubleshooting
Prevention
To avoid client-specific corruption issues:
- Perform regular backups
- Run Client Functions > Miscellaneous > Re-index All Files periodically
- Avoid force-closing ProPay during database operations
- Ensure network stability when running ProPay on a network
