Mapped Drive Not Visible in ProPay

Problem

During ProPay installation or updating, the already mapped target drive is not visible in the list box of target drives.

Cause

This issue typically occurs because drive mappings are part of the user's profile. Any third-party software, including ProPay, must run under the security identity of the same user who set the mapping. If the mapped drive was set up under a different user than the one currently logged in, the drive may not be visible.

Solution

Step 1: Disconnect from the currently mapped drive

  1. Open My Computer (or This PC in newer Windows versions).
  2. Locate the networked drive letter already assigned for your ProPay software.
  3. Right-click the drive icon and select Disconnect.

Step 2: Re-map the drive

Choose one of the following methods:

Method A: Using File Explorer

  1. Open My Computer (or This PC).
  2. Click Map Network Drive.
  3. Choose a drive letter and enter the network path.
    • For example, if your ProPay path is \\SERVER1\PAYROLL\PAYSOFT\PROPAY26.EXE, map the folders preceding the PAYSOFT folder.

    Method B: Using Command Prompt

    1. Open Command Prompt (click Start, type cmd, and press Enter).
    2. Type the following command, replacing Y: with your desired drive letter and the path with your actual network path:

    _CODE_BLOCK_0_

    Additional Notes

    • Ensure that the network computer or folder is available and online before mapping.
    • To check available computers and shared folders, open Network Neighborhood or My Network Places.
    • You can also type the share name in the Run dialog to check if it is accessible.

    Troubleshooting

    If you are still experiencing issues after following these steps:

    1. Verify your network connection is stable.
    2. Ensure you have the necessary permissions to access the network drive.
    3. Try restarting your computer and attempt the mapping process again.
    4. Check with your IT department if there are any network policies preventing drive mapping.
