Internet Explorer Compatibility Mode

If you or your clients must use Internet Explorer 10 or later, enable compatibility view for ProPay WEB.

Why compatibility mode is needed

Internet Explorer 10 and later use modern rendering standards that may not fully support older web applications like ProPay WEB. Compatibility mode tells Internet Explorer to render the page using older standards that ProPay WEB was designed for.

Common issues without compatibility mode

  • Login page doesn't display correctly
  • Buttons don't respond to clicks
  • Payroll entry screen malfunctions
  • Reports fail to generate
  • Unexpected error messages

How to enable compatibility view

  1. Open Internet Explorer.
  2. Press Alt key to display the menu bar.
    • If using a touch screen, bring up the on-screen keyboard and tap Alt.
    1. Click Tools menu.
    2. Select Compatibility View settings.
    3. The Compatibility View Settings window opens.

    Add your ProPay WEB URL

    1. In the Add this website field, type your ProPay WEB URL:
      • Example: `online.mypayrollservice.com`
      • Or your IP address: `29.36.137.165`
      1. Click Add button.
      2. Check the box Use Microsoft compatibility lists.
      3. Click Close to save settings.

The setting affects all subdomains and subpages for the specific site. ProPay WEB should now work correctly in Internet Explorer.

      Verify compatibility mode is active

When viewing ProPay WEB in Internet Explorer:

      • Look for a torn page icon in the address bar
      • This icon indicates compatibility view is active
      • If you don't see it, repeat the steps above
