Print Out Is Chopped Off

Problem

Part of the print is missing from the check or page, the print job does not finish completely, or the printout appears cut off.

Cause

This issue is often related to printer memory limitations, particularly with older printers or inadequate driver buffer sizes.

Solutions

Solution 1: Adjust print resolution

  1. Click the Start menu.
  2. Go to Settings > Printers.
  3. Select Graphics.
  4. Change the resolution to 300 dpi instead of 600 dpi.

Note: 300 dpi requires less memory to print. For HP LaserJet Series II drivers, 300 dpi is the default setting.

Solution 2: Increase printer memory settings

  1. Open Printer Properties.
  2. Click Device Options.
  3. Increase the memory allocation for the device if it is set too low.

Solution 3: Check physical printer memory

If the problem persists:

  1. Print a configuration page from your printer (consult your printer manual for instructions).
  2. Verify the amount of available memory.
    • Recommendation: 4 MB of memory is typically sufficient for most print jobs.
    • For large check jobs, 8 MB to 16 MB may be necessary.

Solution 4: Try an alternative printer

If available, try printing on another printer with more memory to determine if the issue is memory-related.
