Add ProPay Exceptions to Windows Antivirus

To prevent Windows Defender or other antivirus software from interfering with ProPay operations, you need to add folder exclusions for ProPay and its components.

Why Add Antivirus Exceptions

Antivirus software can sometimes interfere with ProPay's normal operations by:

  • Scanning database files during payroll processing, causing slowdowns
  • Blocking PDF generation when creating reports and forms
  • Interfering with network operations in multi-user environments

Adding exclusions ensures ProPay runs smoothly without compromising your computer's security.

Steps to Add Exceptions in Windows Defender

  1. Click the gear icon on your Windows home screen to access Settings.
  1. In Settings, click Update & Security.
  1. On the left side, click Windows Security.
  1. Click Virus & Threat Protection.
  1. Under "Virus & threat protection settings," click Manage Settings.
  1. Scroll down to the Exclusions section and click Add or remove exclusions.
  1. Click Add an exclusion and select Folder from the dropdown menu.
  1. Go to and select the Paysoft folder.
  1. Repeat steps 7-8 to add an exclusion for the pdf995 folder.

Verify Your Exclusions

Your exclusions screen should show both folders:

  • Paysoft folder
  • pdf995 folder

Third-party Antivirus Software

If you use third-party antivirus software (Norton, McAfee, Kaspersky, etc.), consult your antivirus documentation for instructions on adding folder exclusions. You'll need to exclude the same folders listed above.
