Software Update Failed

Problem Description

When you try to download the latest ProPay version from Utilities > Download Latest Version of ProPay on the ProPay Main Menu, the download or installation does not complete successfully.

Common Causes

Software updates can fail due to antivirus software interference, Windows security settings, or network restrictions. Any of the following solutions may resolve the issue.

Solution 1: Check Antivirus Software

Antivirus programs can block ProPay installation files or delete downloaded updates without warning.

To resolve this issue:

  1. Temporarily disable your antivirus software before running the update.
  2. Alternatively, add PAY2026.exe to your antivirus "allowed" or "exception" list.
  3. Run the ProPay update again.
  4. Re-enable your antivirus software after installation completes.

Solution 2: Adjust User Account Control Settings

Windows User Account Control (UAC) can prevent ProPay from installing updates.

To lower UAC settings:

  1. Go to Control Panel > User Accounts.
  2. Click Change User Account Control settings.
  3. Lower the slider to reduce UAC notifications.
  4. Click OK to save the changes.
  5. Try the update again.

Solution 3: Configure Windows Firewall

Windows Firewall may block the ProPay update process.

To add ProPay as an exception:

  1. Add PAY2026.exe to the Windows Firewall exceptions list.
  2. This allows ProPay to download and install updates.

Solution 4: Modify Local Group Policy

If you work in a managed IT environment, your computer's group policy may restrict which programs can run.

To resolve this:

  1. Ask your IT administrator to modify your Local Group Policy settings.
  2. Request permission to run ProPay installation files.
  3. Your administrator can reference Microsoft documentation on allowing users to run specified programs in Windows.

Solution 5: Download ProPay Manually

If automatic updates continue to fail, you can download and install ProPay manually.

To download manually:

  1. Visit the Paysoft website or contact support for the download link.
  2. Download the installation file to your computer.
  3. Run the installer with administrator privileges.
