ProPay is Windows-based payroll software that runs on modern operating systems and networks.
Operating System
ProPay runs on these operating systems:
Desktop versions:
- Windows 10
- Windows 11
Server versions:
- Windows Server 2016
- Windows Server 2019
- Windows Server 2022
Network Requirements
ProPay works with all major network configurations:
- 2-3 users: Peer-to-peer network is sufficient
- 4+ users: Dedicated server recommended
An internet connection is required to receive software updates.
Hardware Requirements
Minimum specifications:
- Processor: Modern dual-core processor (2.0 GHz or faster)
- Memory (RAM):
- Single user: 4 GB
- Network server: 8 GB or more
- Hard drive: 500 MB free disk space
- Display: 1024 x 768 resolution or higher
Recommended specifications:
- Processor: Quad-core processor (2.5 GHz or faster)
- Memory (RAM): 8 GB or more
- Hard drive: 1 GB free disk space for data storage
- Display: 1920 x 1080 resolution
Printer Requirements
You need a laser printer to print payroll checks. The printer must support MICR toner for bank processing.
Printer specifications:
- Laser printer (MICR-capable)
- 4-8 MB printer memory (minimum)
- More memory required for large payrolls (200+ employees)

Required Supplies
Blank check stock:
ProPay prints all client checks on the same blank check stock. Each check is imprinted with the appropriate client's bank information. This eliminates the need to purchase separate checks for each client.
MICR toner:
MICR (Magnetic Ink Character Recognition) toner is required for printing checks that banks can process through high-speed scanners.
Other supplies:
- Check envelopes
- W-2 perforated sheets
- Report envelopes

Checking Your System
To verify your computer meets these requirements:
- Right-click This PC on your desktop.
- Select Properties.
- Review the processor and memory specifications shown.
If your system does not meet the minimum requirements, ProPay may run slowly or encounter errors.
