North Carolina Wage Report

Create and upload North Carolina wage reports (NCUI 101) using ProPay and the North Carolina Division of Employment Security website.

Overview

ProPay generates NCUI 101 Report wage reporting files for North Carolina quarterly unemployment insurance reporting. You create the file in ProPay and upload it through the NC DES website.

Before You Begin

You need:

  • NC DES account number or remitter number and PIN
  • Quarter ending date for filing
  • Client selection prepared

Create the NCUI 101 Report File

  1. Open ProPay.
  2. Go to Client Functions > Electronic Functions > Magnetic Media.
  3. Select State Quarterly Magnetic Media Filing from the dropdown menu.
  4. Select the client(s) you want to include in your filing upload.
  5. Create the file by following the on-screen prompts.
  6. Print the internal report (detailed or summary) for your records.
  7. Save the file to a location you can easily access later.

Upload to NC Division of Employment Security

  1. Visit the NC DES website: https://fed.des.nc.gov/ofis/citizen/pages/public/Login.aspx
  2. Click Business Services.
  3. Enter your DES account number or remitter number, plus your PIN.
  4. Click File or Review Quarterly Tax and Wage Report.
  5. Follow the prompts to upload your saved NCUI 101 file.
  6. Review the submission summary before confirming.
  7. Save or print the confirmation for your records.

Payment Options

If payment is due with your quarterly filing, you can submit payment via:

  • Check - Mail with your Form NCUI 101
  • E-check - Electronic payment through the NC DES website
  • Money order - Mail with your Form NCUI 101

File Format Notes

ProPay generates the NCUI 101 Report in the format required by the North Carolina Division of Employment Security. The file contains quarterly wage and unemployment insurance information for all selected clients.

File location: ProPay saves the file in your default Mag Media folder (typically `C:\PAYSOFT\PROPAY26`).

Troubleshooting

Unable to select clients for filing upload:

  • Ensure you have the necessary permissions in ProPay
  • Verify that the client data is up-to-date and complete

Error when creating the wage report file:

  • Check that all required fields are filled out correctly
  • Ensure you have sufficient disk space to save the file

Cannot log in to NC DES website:

  • Verify your account number/remitter number and PIN
  • Clear your browser cache and try again
  • Contact NC DES support if the issue persists

File upload fails on NC DES website:

  • Check that your file is in the correct format
  • Ensure the file size does not exceed the maximum allowed limit
  • Try using a different browser or clearing your browser cache

Missing clients in the report:

  • Review the client selection during file creation (step 4)
  • Check the internal report to verify which clients are included
  • Regenerate the file if a client is missing
